Unmasking the “great pretender.”

When Jade and Bennet got sick, their clinical signs didn’t immediately point to a clear diagnosis.
Fortunately, their veterinarians knew how to find the real problem. See how one simple test revealed the “great pretender.”

Reference lab-level confidence at your fingertips.

The Catalyst Cortisol Test demonstrates minimal bias, excellent precision, and strong correlation with the IMMULITE Veterinary Cortisol assay, supporting its accuracy and reliability for point-of-care cortisol measurement in dogs.

Simple steps to interpretive guidance on the Catalyst One Chemistry Analyzer.

Get the most complete patient record.

Save all of the related test information (the protocol, results, and interpretive comments) in the patient record for a complete patient history.

Get protocol-specific interpretive comments.

Protocol-specific interpretive comments can help you determine the best next steps for your patient.

Save time with automatic run initiation for additional tests.

Selecting a protocol that requires additional testing (such as ACTH stimulation) queues up any additional, applicable test runs automatically on your IDEXX VetLab Station.

See the results from all of the protocol steps at a glance.

When a protocol requires additional testing, all additional results are automatically appended to the initial result in the patient record.* You’ll also see comprehensive, protocol-specific interpretive comments with the most recent results.

Frequently asked questions

For the Catalyst One analyzer:

  • For the initial cortisol test: Initiate the run on the IDEXX VetLab Station. On the Select Instruments screen, tap Catalyst One and then tap Cortisol. Select the desired protocol and its additional protocol steps, tap Save, and then tap Run.
  • For additional tests/multistep cortisol testing: All the protocol steps selected when the initial test was processed appear in the In Process list on the IDEXX VetLab Station Home screen. When it’s time to process the next sample, tap the next available test in the list, tap Queued, and then tap Start Run.

For the Catalyst Dx analyzer:

  • For the initial cortisol test: Initiate the run as you normally would on the IDEXX VetLab Station. At the end of the run, identify the protocol and protocol step when prompted and then tap Submit.

Note: If you choose to enter the protocol/protocol step later, tap the patient in the In Process list, tap Add Details, and then select the patient’s protocol information.

For additional tests/multistep cortisol testing:

  1. Locate the patient’s initial cortisol result on the IDEXX VetLab Station OR select the applicable patient from the Pending list on the Home screen.
  2. Tap Add Test and then tap Append Results.
  3. On the Select Instruments screen, select Catalyst Dx.
  4. When prompted at the end of the run, select the run’s protocol information and then tap Submit.

Yes, once you have selected the appropriate protocol and all steps are completed, interpretive comments are provided with the final result.

Yes, the test can be run alone or with other slides as part of a comprehensive patient profile. For example, you could run a Catalyst Lyte 4 CLIP, a Catalyst Chem 17 CLIP, a Catalyst SDMA Test, and a Catalyst Cortisol Test with one patient sample.

  • The Catalyst Cortisol slide can be loaded in any order after electrolytes.
  • When running the Catalyst Cortisol slide with electrolyte slides, always load the electrolyte slides first.
  • For the quickest time to results, the recommended load order is Lyte 4 CLIP on the bottom, followed by a chemistry CLIP (e.g., Chem 17, Chem 15), the Catalyst Cortisol slide, any additional slides, and Catalyst Total T4 (TT4) slide on top.

The Catalyst Cortisol Test is for canine patients only.

U.S. units: 0.5–30.0 µg/dL
