IDEXX Practice Management Software Data Privacy Principles
In today’s world, your clinic’s practice management system and the data it contains is one of your most precious assets. At IDEXX Laboratories, we understand the importance of protecting this critical information, and the privacy of your practice, staff, clients and patients. Some IDEXX products and services require us to install a secure connection allowing us to connect to your practice management system. As part of the IDEXX commitment to customer data privacy and to protect you, IDEXX has created and subscribes to the following Practice Management Software Data Privacy Principles:
1. Practice Information Management Software (PIMS) Data
To maximize your IDEXX investments and support some of the IDEXX products and services you have adopted you may install our secure connection technology which allows IDEXX to connect to your practice management system. We recognize that this is an important decision for your business and should you decide to grant IDEXX this access we will provide you with appropriate terms and conditions that describe how we will collect, use and disclose any information, including use and disclosure of pet owner information if relevant to a particular product, service or application provided to you
2. Sharing Information with Third Parties
We will not share your identifiable PIMS data with third parties unless you have signed up for a service that specifically requires use of identifiable data, or if we are required to do so by law. We may aggregate nonidentifiable PIMS data we obtain from you with other customer data and provide this information to third parties (e.g., for industry trending) on a non-personally identifiable basis. The identity of your clinic and your customers is never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
3. Data Security
We understand that the security of your data is extremely important. We use physical, procedural and technical safeguards to deter unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure of information you share with IDEXX. If you elect to use the automatic data extraction software from IDEXX, any PIMS data you share will be protected using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit encryption, when transported from your clinic to IDEXX. All data shared with IDEXX is stored in a secure environment protected by fire walls.
4. Always Your Choice
If you do not wish to continue sharing your PIMS data, please notify us. Attn: IDEXX Data Operations Supervisor, 2536 Alpine Drive, Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54703. PIMS data access will be discontinued within 30 days of receipt of your written notice.
