Toby is a 9-year-old black lab who received a preanesthetic panel for a dental procedure. IDEXX DecisionIQ detected patterns in his preanesthetic panel consistent with Addison’s disease. Bandit is a 2-year old male Plott hound mix who presented with vomiting and difficulty defecating along with lethargy and lack of interest in food. Based on the abnormal electrolytes, azotemia, and clinical signs, IDEXX DecisionIQ detected patterns consistent with Addison’s Disease and recommended a resting cortisol panel with ACTH stimulation test if indicated. IRIS CKD Staging Guidelines feature

  • How it works.
    IDEXX DecisionIQ utilizes relevant patient-specific details, such as species, appropriate analytes, and clinician input, to when a patient with chronic kidney disease (CKD) may be classified by an IRIS CKD stage.

  • What it does.
    IDEXX DecisionIQ provides a seamless experience for clinicians in identifying and classifying patients according to the International Renal Interest Society (IRIS) CKD staging guidelines.

  • Why it matters.
    Renal diagnostic decisions can be complex. IDEXX DecisionIQ automates the application of the IRIS CKD staging guidelines to support diagnosing and treating renal disease in cats and dogs.

Addison’s Disease Risk Indication feature

  • How it works
    IDEXX DecisionIQ utilizes relevant patient-specific details, such as species and age, CBC and chemistry results, and clinician input to determine if a patient is at risk of Addison’s disease.

  • What it does
    IDEXX DecisionIQ alerts clinicians when a patient has an increased likelihood of Addison’s disease and may benefit from targeted screening.

  • Why it matters
    While less commonly encountered, Addison’s disease can be fatal if left untreated or without rapid intervention. This disease, known as the “great pretender,” is difficult to detect due to the many ways it can present and the similarities in clinical signs with more common diseases.

Dexamethasone Suppression Interpretive Support Feature

  • How it works
    IDEXX DecisionIQ leverages clinician input and patient results to provide an efficient results interpretation right in VetConnect PLUS.

  • What it does
    Following a dexamethasone suppression test, IDEXX DecisionIQ invites clinicians to select the dosage of dexamethasone and the presence of clinical signs and will return the appropriate interpretation.

  • Why it matters
    Dexamethasone suppression testing is not run frequently, and interpreting the results typically requires complex tables and flowcharts—taking additional time and effort to reach clarity.

Feline Hyperthyroidism Disease Risk Indication Feature

  • How it works
    IDEXX DecisionIQ utilizes relevant patient-specific details, such as species and age, diagnostic results (CBC, chemistry, and electrolytes), and clinician input to determine the risk of feline hyperthyroidism.

  • What it does
    IDEXX DecisionIQ will alert clinicians of a patient’s relative risk of having a high T4 value that day, within the next six months, or within the next 18 months, along with next-step considerations for monitoring.

  • Why it matters
    While feline hyperthyroidism is a common hormonal disease, it may go undetected in its early stages, while clinical signs are still subtle. Early detection and treatment may minimize the risk for other diseases (e.g., heart disease) and extend the patients’ quality and length of life.

ACTH Stimulation Interpretive Support Feature

  • How it works
    IDEXX DecisionIQ utilizes relevant patient-specific details, such as species, relevant analytes, and clinician input, to provide appropriate interpretation for:
    Addison’s Disease diagnosis
    Cushing’s Disease diagnosis
    Ambiguous results when testing for Addison’s or Cushing’s Disease diagnosis
    Therapeutic monitoring for dogs on Mitotane or Trilostane.

  • What it does
    IDEXX DecisionIQ creates clarity by providing patient-specific interpretation for both one and two post-Cortisol ACTH stimulation tests alongside results.

  • Why it matters
    Utilizing ACTH stimulation to diagnose and manage Cushing’s and Addison’s Disease can be complex and time-consuming, requiring interpretation of species and disease-specific reference ranges and results interpretation.

IDEXX 4Dx Plus Interpretive Support feature

  • How it works
    IDEXX DecisionIQ uses relevant patient-specific data and historical results—including but not limited to the IDEXX 4Dx Plus Test, CBC, Lyme Quant C6 Antibody Test, and urinalysis—and clinician input to guide the clinician in determining the most appropriate next steps to consider.

  • What it does
    Provides next-step considerations for patients who have tested positive for heartworm, Ehrlichia, Lyme, and/or Anaplasma infection using the in-house SNAP 4Dx Plus Test or the Lab 4Dx Plus Test from IDEXX Reference Laboratories.

  • Why it matters
    Treating patients with positive IDEXX 4Dx Plus Test results can be especially challenging, particularly in cases where patients are asymptomatic.
