IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. and Sysmex America, Inc. Announce Distribution and Service Agreement [Trade]
IDEXX expands hematology portfolio with Sysmex to enhance customer choice and flexibility
WESTBROOK, Maine, April 30, 2013—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. and Sysmex America, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan, today announced a new three-year sales agent agreement. Effective immediately, IDEXX will sell the Sysmex XT-2000iV Automated Hematology Analyzer in all animal diagnostic markets through its BioResearch business; Sysmex will provide installation, training and service support for the instruments.
“We are very excited to expand our current hematology portfolio to include the XT-2000iV,” said Bob Barca, Director of Hematology at IDEXX. “With this new analyzer and the IDEXX ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer, we can now offer our customers unmatched flexibility and ease of use that meets their unique needs.”
The Sysmex XT-2000iV, developed specifically for animal diagnostics, utilizes the same advanced fluorescent flow cytometry technology that is present in the IDEXX ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer. Engineered by Sysmex using the same best-in-class technology, both hematology instruments are known in the companion animal and bioresearch markets for their reliability and accuracy.
The Sysmex XT-2000iV software has ten pre-programmed species and 20 customizable species, offering more flexibility to analyze samples from different species than any other hematology analyzer on the market. The software is easy-to-use and allows manual gating of cell populations (cell profiling) for an unlimited number of species. The analyzer is capable of providing excellent low-end and high-end linearity and accuracy for measured animal parameters while allowing users to evaluate whole blood samples and body fluids, such as bronchial alveolar lavage and bone marrow. The XT-2000iV provides a premier hematology option for large research organizations.
The IDEXX ProCyte Dx Hematology Analyzer (manufactured by Sysmex Corporation) offers researchers a compact, benchtop instrument that has been specifically designed for mice, rats and other common research species. Because the ProCyte Dx only requires 30 μL of anticoagulated blood, it minimizes the impact of testing on research colonies.
“We value our continuing partnership with IDEXX and are pleased that their success in this market gives us the opportunity to increase our presence and grow our market share,” said Ralph Taylor, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Business Development and Medical Affairs at Sysmex America.
The contract agreement represents the most recent development of the longstanding partnership between the two companies that began in 2008 when the companies announced the integration of the Sysmex XT-2000iV into IDEXX Reference Laboratories worldwide.
