Quanti-Disc®
with the Quanti-Disc® Reader

UK DWI-approved
An automated method for total viable count that’s easier, faster and more accurate

Quanti-Disc is easier to run and easier to read than traditional pour-plate methods. And with the Quanti-Disc Reader, you get more accurate results with less than 15 seconds of hands-on time.

The Quanti-Disc Reader makes it even easier.

Quanti-Disc results correlate well with Yeast Extract Agar (ISO Method 6222).

How to Use Quanti-Disc

Step 1
Place the disc on a level surface and remove the lid.

Place on level surface and remove cover

Step 2
Holding the pipette vertically, dispense 4.0 mL of sample onto the center of the disc (do not hold the pipette at an angle).

Dispense 4.0 mL of sample

Step 3
Cover the entire center disc with the sample, ensuring the sample contacts all the channel openings. Capillary action will fill each well. After three seconds, replace the lid (excess sample will be absorbed).

Cover entire center disc with sample, replace lid

Step 4
Incubate the disc with the lid facing up (do not invert).

Step 5
Reading Quanti-Disc

Manual Read

View under UV lamp and count

To read results manually, hold a 6-watt 365-nm UV lamp 5 inches (13 cm) above the disc and count the number of fluorescent wells. Face the light away from your eyes and toward the disc.

  Reading with the Quanti-Disc Reader

Place the Quanti-Disc sample onto the reader base.
  1. Start the Quanti-Disc Reader program. Create a batch file to save your results.
  2. Enter sample information manually or with a bar-code reader.
  3. Place the Quanti-Disc sample through the protective curtain onto the reader base.

Step 6

Manual Read

Convert the number of positive wells to an MPN/mL

Using the Quanti-Disc Most Probable Number (MPN) Table, convert the number of positive wells to an MPN/mL.

  Results with the Quanti-Disc Reader

View the results on your PC

Click the Count Positive Wells button or press the space bar on your keyboard.

The reader reads the Quanti-Disc sample, and displays and saves the number of positive wells and the MPN/mL.
