Integrated Capture and Identification
IDEXX and Invitrogen complete the cycle for Cryptosporidium and Giardia testing
Recently IDEXX entered into a
strategic collaboration with Invitrogen
Corporation to distribute and develop
new products for the water testing
industry. IDEXX Water will market
and distribute water testing kits that
utilize Invitrogen’s broad portfolio of
technologies, including Dynabeads®,
an advanced magnetic separation
technology that removes targeted
pathogens for identification.
This combined effort gives you a
comprehensive suite of tests from
one source. IDEXX Filta-Max® and
Filta-Max xpress® systems start
the filtering and concentrating for
Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The
IDEXX filter captures target pathogens
in the water sample.
Through the
elution process, the target organisms
are removed from the filter, reducing the
sample to a smaller, more manageable
volume.
The Dynabeads® GC-Combo is
the next step in identifying those target
organisms.
Dynabeads® GC-Combo is used by
100% of the EPA Method 1623-certified
laboratories and during U.S. EPA training.
Dynabeads® GC-Combo takes the next logical step
Invitrogen’s proprietary Dynabeads®
technology picks up where IDEXX
Filta-Max® and Filta-Max xpress®
systems leave off. The magnetic beads
bind to specific target organisms and
separate them from the water sample.
The organisms are then dissociated
from the beads and applied to slides for
identification under a microscope.

The number one Cryptosporidium and Giardia
filter systems in the world combined with
advanced IMS:
The Filta-Max xpress® system delivers even
greater ease and efficiency, with a complete
one-button process for results in less than
two minutes:
- Effectively captures and recovers oocysts
and cysts from a wide range of water
matrices
- Simplifies the processing of filters, saving
time and labor
- U.S. EPA-approved for use in Methods 1622
and 1623
Dynabeads® GC-Combo offers the selective capture of Giardia and
Cryptosporidium directly from water sample concentrates:
- Isolates the target pathogens from the water sample concentrate
- Encompasses multiple Invitrogen technologies to allow for the isolation
and detection of pathogens
- U.S. EPA-approved for use in Methods 1622 and 1623
TECH TIP
Smart Design: Quanti-Tray® Packaging Changes
- Better Packaging: Environmentally-friendlier brown boxes replace printed white boxes significantly reducing the
amount of inks and dyes used in printing
- Better Size: Boxes are 1 inch shorter and much sturdier
- Better Labeling: Red labels for 51-Well Quanti-Tray® (WQT-100) and blue labels for 97-Well Quanti-Tray®/2000
(WQT-2K) instantly differentiates the two types of Quanti-Tray
No changes have been made to the Quanti-Trays, only the packaging has been affected.
