No Matter What Water Samples You're Testing, IDEXX Makes It Easier to Prepare for Summer

It's not too early to begin thinking about the increased volume of testing that comes with warmer weather. Recent regulatory changes, combined with IDEXX's line of microbiology products, can streamline your laboratory and allow you to run more samples through the lab while keeping hands-on time and costs to a minimum.

Colilert/Quanti-Tray Family of Products

This summer will mark the second season of testing under the U.S. EPA's Ambient Water Rule (40CFR 136). IDEXX products offer an easy and cost-effective way to implement the recommendations of the Ambient Water Rule. In this rule, the U.S. EPA states that E. coli and enterococci are the best indicators of fecal contamination in ambient waters like recreational water and source water. The Ambient Water Rule approves the use of IDEXX Colilert®, Colilert®-18, and Enterolert® reagents in combination with Quanti-Tray® and Quanti-Tray®/2000 for the detection of E. coli and enterococci in ambient waters.

As part of its effort to consolidate methods and analytes across different water types, the U.S. EPA has proposed the approval of Colilert, Colilert-18, Enterolert and Quanti-Tray for wastewater testing. If approved, the proposed Wastewater Rule will allow laboratories to use the same IDEXX method for ambient water and wastewater testing.

H2O Fact

The busiest known Quanti-Tray Sealer has sealed over 200,000 Quanti-Trays during its lifetime.

This summer, large utilities will begin testing in preparation for compliance efforts under the Long Term Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, Stage 2 (LT2). This rule requires utilities to test source water for Crytposporidum. LT2 is expected to promulgate in June 2005, and will require utilities serving more than 10,000 people to start implementing the Rule in January 2006. Filta-Max®, IDEXX's patented method for the capture and collection of Cryptosporidium and Giardia, has been validated as part of the U.S. EPA approved Method 1623.

Filta-Max Filters

Since its first U.S. EPA approval in 1989, Colilert has provided an easy, rapid, accurate and cost-effective coliform/E. coli method for testing drinking water. Now with ambient water and proposed wastewater approvals, IDEXX reagents eliminate the need for laboratories to have multiple methods and media for individual microbiological tests. This simplifies lab workflow, regulatory compliance and training, saving laboratories time and money. So take advantage of IDEXX's complete product line to solve your microbiological testing needs this summer.
