  Increasingly, laboratory managers who test wastewater are moving to easy, rapid methods for wastewater compliance. This is due in part to the switch from monitoring fecal coliforms to E. coli in wastewater.

• U.S. EPA Proposed Wastewater Rule: The U.S. EPA has proposed the approval of Colilert, Colilert-18 and Quanti-Tray for the detection of E. coli in wastewater, and Enterolert and Quanti-Tray for the detection of enterococci in wastewater.
