AAHA Certifications

As an additional service, IDEXX consultants can evaluate your radiographic and sonographic images to determine whether they comply with American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) quality guidelines. Radiographs and sonograms may be submitted for evaluation. A separate fee is assessed for each study.

IDEXX ECG Teletransmitter

The IDEXX ECG teletransmitter features an easy-to-read LCD display, hands-free operation during transmission and a 60-second memory of six leads with playback. The teletransmitter includes limb plate electrodes—clipless, medical-grade VELCRO® brand straps that cause the animal less stress than metal clips.

 

Equine Leads

The IDEXX ECG teletransmitter is also available with equine leads. The equine leads are 8 feet long, allowing you to place leads correctly, minimizing stress for the horse and for you.

ECG Screens

  • Pre-op—Brief assessment of the patient’s cardiac risk of sedation or anesthesia
  • Geriatric—Brief assessment of the senior patient’s ECG
  • Heartworm—Brief assessment of the ECG related to risk of heartworm treatment
  • Pretherapy—Brief assessment of the ECG related to administration of cardiotoxic therapies

ECG Consults

A detailed written assessment of the patient’s ECG in conjunction with patient medical history. The report provides diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations.

STAT ECG: Telephone callback within 1 hour  

Critical (Super STAT) ECG: Telephone callback within minutes

 

Equine/Large Animal ECGs

This service is designed for equine, bovine and llama ECGs. Indications for this service include suspected arrhythmia and insurance and prepurchase exams. Your report typically provides detailed rate and rhythm diagnosis, identification of potential problems, and diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations (subject to specialist availability).

STAT ECG: Telephone callback within 1 hour  

 

Full Consults (ECG/Echocardiogram/Radiographs)

A specialist provides a detailed written assessment of the patient’s ECG, echocardiogram and/or radiograph, in conjunction with patient medical history. The report provides diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations. 

Routine Full Consult: Within 24 hours, Monday–Friday

 

Ambulatory Monitoring Services

 

Holter Monitor (available in U.S. only)

A Holter monitor documents the frequency and severity of an arrhythmia over a 24-hour period. It is also used to determine the necessity or efficacy of antiarrhythmic therapy. Specialists evaluate the results and provide a written report.

Event Recorder (available in U.S. only)

Worn up to 7 days, the event recorder captures ECG activity for correlation with a client-observed event. The device is continually recording, but not permanently saving, ECG tracings. However, when an event is observed, the client pushes a button on the device. The device then saves the ECG that was measured just before the episode, during the episode and just after the episode. Specialists evaluate the results and provide a written report.

Expert second opinions

For those cases where you’ve wanted to get the second opinion or treatment recommendation of a respected peer, now you can.

 

Exotic Consults

This service is designed for all exotic species of mammals, reptiles, birds and fish, including exotic pet, wildlife and zoo/aquatic cases. A zoological medicine specialist provides a detailed written interpretation of radiographs, sonograms, endoscopy, clinical pathology and pathology in conjunction with patient medical history.

Routine: Within 24 hours, Monday–Friday

 

Internist Consults

  • Routine Consults—An internist provides a detailed written treatment plan based on patient medical history, lab work and radiologist's interpretation.
  • Routine Consults with Images—An internist provides a detailed written treatment plan and interpretation of images in conjunction with patient medical history, lab work and previous reports.
  • Treatment Recommendations Only—An internist provides a detailed written treatment plan when a definitive diagnosis by a radiologist, cardiologist or pathologist is already included.

Dental Consults

A dentist provides a detailed written interpretation of dental radiographs and/or pictures in conjunction with patient medical history.

Submit your request using the appropriate method below

Before submitting a case for the first time, please contact IDEXX Telemedicine Consultants at 1-800-726-1212 and one of our account managers will assist you with registration. We do not accept cases through email.

 

DICOM® Send

  1. DICOM® Send the select images from your preferred modality (x-ray machine, PACS, ultrasound, MRI or CT).
  2. Log into your account at vetmedstat.com. The case will appear on the home page under Attention: Cases for You to Complete. Do not click Start a New Case.
  3. Click Finish.
  4. Verify the patient information and update, as needed.
  5. Select the type of service(s) requested and patient condition, clicking Next to navigate from page to page.
  6. On the Notes page, under Additional Information, enter relevant history and presenting condition in the top box, then click Next.
  7. If the case includes an ECG, select the method for how your ECG will be sent.
  8. Verify all images have been received. Note: It may take several minutes for all images to appear. If you are faxing documents, follow step #5 under Fax ECG, Lab Work or Documents; otherwise, click Next.
  9. Review the summary page, then click Submit Case.
  10. If you intend to send an ECG using the teletransmitter, please call 1-800-347-8300 to transmit now.

 

Online Image Upload

  1. Log into your account at vetmedstat.com.
  2. From the Home page, click the Start a New Case button and enter new patient information, or Look for Existing Patient, then click Next.
  3. Select the type of service(s) requested and patient condition, click Next to navigate from page to page.
  4. On the Notes page, under Additional Information, enter relevant history and presenting condition in the top box, then click Next.
  5. If the case includes an ECG, select the method for how your ECG will be sent.
  6. Click the Add File or Add Folder button to locate your images.
  7. Click the Upload button to attach your images to the case. When the upload is complete, if you are faxing documents, follow step #5 under Fax ECG, LabWork, or Documents below; otherwise, click Next.
  8. Review the summary page, then click Submit Case.
  9. If you intend to send an ECG using the teletransmitter, please call 1-800-347-8300 to transmit now.

 

Fax ECG, Lab Work or Other Relevant Documents

  1. Fax your documents or laboratory reports to 1-888-357-0321 (domestic only) and 1-207-556-4493 (domestic and international).
  2. For faxing ECGs, mount all or as many leads as possible of the ECG. The mounted leads should be at least 8.5 inches long. Label the leads and include the paper speed that was used to record them.
  3. Go to vetmedstat.com and follow online instructions 1–4.
  4. Select Fax for how your ECG will be sent.
  5. Select Attach Fax(es)
  6. Select the fax(es) and click Assign selected to case. If no faxes appear:
    1. Enter the fax number from which you faxed (including area code/country code) in the Faxed From field.
    2. Click Search, the fax should then appear.
    3. You will be given the option to associate that fax number with your clinic for future faxing.
  7. Click Next to review the summary of the case.
  8. Click Submit Case.

 

Telemedicine Interlink (Must have Cornerstone® 8.2 or IDEXX-PACS™ 3.5 or higher)

  1. Starting at either the Image Explorer or Image Viewer window, create a case that includes the images you wish to submit.
  2. Expand the Case Actions pane.
  3. Select the tab for Telemedicine and then select IDEXX Telemedicine Consultants from the Teleprovider drop-down list.
  4. Click Submit Case. A Web browser opens and displays VetMedStat.
  5. Verify the patient’s information; update as needed.
  6. Select the type of service(s) requested and patient condition, clicking Next to navigate from page to page.
  7. On the Notes page, under Additional Information, enter relevant history and presenting condition in the top box, then click Next.
  8. If the case includes an ECG, select the method for how your ECG will be sent.
  9. Review the summary page, then click Submit Case.
  10. Note: you do not have to wait for all of the images to transmit before submitting the case. If you intend to include an ECG using the teletransmitter, please call 1-800-726-1212 to transmit now.

 

Telephone with ECG Teletransmitter

Please have your IDEXX Telemedicine Consultants account number ready.

  1. Follow online image upload instructions skipping steps 5–7.
  2. Call 1-800-347-8300 to speak with a trained ECG teletransmitter technician.
  3. Transmit the ECG through the telephone when ready.

See your transmitter user manual for detailed ECG transmission instructions. An ECG technician can also walk you through the case submission process. To purchase an IDEXX ECG Teletransmitter, call 1-800-726-1212.

 

Mail or FedEx (for radiographs only)

IMPORTANT: Turnaround times cannot be guaranteed for hard-copy submissions.

  1. Complete the IDEXX Telemedicine Consultants case history form. NOTE: Electronic versions of this form can be found at idexx.com/telemedicine.
  2. Include radiographs with the form.
  3. Send the form and radiographs in an envelope to:
