Heater Block
  • Heater Block: Temperature 45°C ±5°C.
  • Color must appear on the temperature strip for 15 minutes before starting the test

Device
  • Do not open the foil or put kits on the heater block until ready to run.
  • Be sure a colored pellet is at the bottom of the tube.
  • The device must be prespotted with control, sample and activation spots.
  • Devices should be stored at 0°–7°C (32°–45°F).

Beta-Lactam Procedure
  • The sample should be well-agitated, raw, commingled bovine milk.
  • Incubate the sample for 5 minutes (6 minutes maximum).
  • Pour the sample onto the device; it should take approximately 30 seconds to reach the activation circle. The sample flow should never take more than 1 minute. Watch the device during this critical step.*

  • Snap the device as the activation circle BEGINS to disappear—DO NOT wait until activation circle has completely disappeared before snapping.
  • Leave the device on the heater block for the 4-minute color development time.
  • Do not attempt to read the device:
    • Before the full 4 minutes
    • If the control and sample spots are not uniformly developed
    • If a high blue background has occurred

Storage temperature, timing steps and heater block temperature are very critical. Do not vary from the package insert.
