IDEXX Laboratories Announces First Customer Deliveries of SNAPshot Dx™ Analyzer

SNAPshot Dx Analyzer
WESTBROOK, Maine, April 02, 2008—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDXX) announces the first deliveries and installations of the SNAPshot Dx™ Analyzer to customers who have ordered the revolutionary new in-house veterinary diagnostic instrument. The addition of the SNAPshot Dx Analyzer brings next-generation endocrinology capabilities to in-house diagnostic laboratories. This instrument enables practices to run SNAP® T4, cortisol and bile acids tests quickly and conveniently screening for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease, liver disease and other conditions at the point of care.

The SNAPshot Dx Analyzer augments the IDEXX VetLab® Suite's ability to run a full profile within minutes by testing for T4 with either plasma or serum samples. Practices are able to screen and, when needed, determine treatment plans before patients leave the clinic, offering pet owners convenience and peace of mind. SNAPshot Dx runs multiple samples simultaneously for better throughput and efficient workflow. Activated SNAP® ELISA tests are simply inserted into either of two ports and the analyzer runs the assay, reads the results and, through the IDEXX VetLab® Station, automatically downloads the data into the patient's record. The results are then incorporated into the IDEXX VetLab Station's easy-to-read integrated diagnostic report for a complete picture of the patient's health.

"Along with the added convenience of T4 testing using plasma, SNAPshot Dx can run multiple patient samples simultaneously, delivering accurate, more comprehensive results in just minutes, benefitting both the practice and the patient," said Michael Lane, Director, IDEXX Chemistry Instrumentation. "This is the third new instrument added to the IDEXX VetLab Suite of in-house analyzers over the past four months," added Lane. The other two additions include the Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyzer, which began shipping at the same time as the SNAPshot Dx Analyzer, and the IDEXX Coag Dx™ Analyzer, which was introduced in December 2007. These innovations continue the IDEXX tradition of offering IDEXX VetLab Suite upgrades that give veterinarians a full range of in-house diagnostic capabilities with rapid, integrated results and excellent workflow efficiencies.

Later in 2008, IDEXX plans to expand the SNAPshot Dx Analyzer’s test menu by adding the ability to run the entire family of SNAP® tests, which includes SNAP® FIV/FeLV Combo, the upcoming SNAP® Feline Triple™, SNAP® 4Dx®, SNAP® cPL™, SNAP® Giardia and SNAP® Parvo tests. This new analyzer provides a convenient alternative to visual interpretation of SNAP® kits and will automatically capture the results for the patient’s record and the IDEXX VetLab® report.
