IDEXX Introduces the SNAPshot Dx™ Analyzer [Trade]

This next-generation analyzer offers ease of use and immediate results to manage common diseases

SNAPshot Dx Analyzer
WESTBROOK, Maine, January 18, 2008—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), introduces the IDEXX SNAPshot Dx™, the next-generation endocrinology analyzer for the IDEXX VetLab® Suite. SNAPshot Dx enables veterinarians to run T4, cortisol and bile acids tests in-house quickly and conveniently. The new analyzer will be introduced at the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) in January of this year, and IDEXX will begin taking orders in February with shipments to start in March.

SNAPshot Dx will augment the IDEXX VetLab's ability to run a full profile within minutes by testing for T4 with either plasma or serum samples. This rapid capability supports the practice's screening and, if appropriate, treatment plan before patients leave the practice. Veterinary hospitals also will enjoy the benefits of running multiple patient samples simultaneously—increasing the availability of the instrument during busy periods. Activated SNAP® ELISA tests are simply inserted into either of two ports, and the analyzer then runs the assay and reads the results, automatically adding the data to the patient record in IDEXX VetLab® Station and incorporating the information into the results printout.

IDEXX plans to expand the SNAPshot Dx's menu later this year by adding the ability to run the entire family of SNAP® tests, including SNAP® FIV/FeLV Combo, SNAP® 4Dx®, SNAP® cPL™, SNAP® Giardia, and SNAP® Parvo. This new analyzer will add to the IDEXX VetLab a convenient, automated alternative to a manual interpretation of these kits, while automatically capturing the results in the patient's electronic record and the diagnostic results printout created by the IDEXX VetLab Station.

"With SNAPshot Dx, IDEXX offers veterinarians a new level of ease and efficiency when screening for hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease and liver disease in the hospital setting," said Michael Lane, Chemistry Marketing Director at IDEXX Laboratories. "Expanding this analyzer later this year to interpret and record the results of all SNAP devices will add further convenience to these ubiquitous kits and support the move to electronic medical records. By adding SNAPshot Dx to the IDEXX VetLab Suite we have not only increased in-house diagnostic capabilities, but further streamlined the workflow in everyday practices. Veterinarians will have the convenience of immediate results, but with less of their technician's time devoted to running lab work and with more time for patients and their owners."
