IDEXX Laboratories Launches New HerdChek® Swine Influenza Virus H1N1 Antibody Test Kit

WESTBROOK, Maine, April 02, 2001—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDXX), today announced that the Production Animal Services Division has received approval to market and sell its USDA-licensed HerdChek® Swine Influenza Virus (H1N1) Antibody Test kit. IDEXX received USDA licensing in December, 2000. This virus is a member of the Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex, along with Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. This rapid ELISA, with ready-to-use reagents, allows for high volume testing and provides results within two hours.

The ELISA has demonstrated detectable antibody as early as seven days post-vaccination and a specificity of 99.7% compared to hemagglutination assays.
