Now there is a second-generation method for accurately detecting chronic wasting disease (CWD).

Introducing a new postmortem chronic wasting disease test—The IDEXX HerdChek CWD Antigen EIA Test revolutionizes CWD testing by combining a simple homogenization step with a straightforward EIA.

The IDEXX CWD test utilizes a novel prion capture technology—the Seprion ligand—to selectively bind PrP^sc in the presence of PrP^c from a simple tissue-and-water homogenate. This technology eliminates the need for complicated proteinase K sample preparation, resulting in unmatched ease-of-use and efficiency for CWD laboratories.

USDA-approved for white-tailed deer and mule deer. Validation for North American elk is anticipated.
