CAV
Chicken Anemia Virus
Chicken anemia virus (CAV) is an important pathogen of poultry and has been found in broilers, breeders and
specific-pathogen-free flocks. Virus isolation is difficult and time-consuming. Screening for the presence of antibody
will indicate exposure to the virus. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has been used to detect
antibody against CAV. This method is quite useful in large-scale testing of flocks for exposure to CAV.
