SURPASS logoSURPASS® (1% diclofenac sodium) Topical
Anti-Inflammatory Cream for Use in Horses
Safety and Efficacy

The localized application of SURPASS® Topical Cream reduces the risk of toxicity associated with the use of systemic NSAIDs and provides lasting relief.

Some of the drugs used systemically as anti-inflammatory medications may have serious safety consequences if not used carefully. Phenylbutazone, or "bute," has been used for decades to treat all kinds of pain in horses. Bute is a potent anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. With recent improvements in diagnostics, we know that many horses have ulcers in their gastrointestinal tract. Use of bute increases the chance of gastrointestinal ulcers in horses and can cause potential kidney damage with chronic use.

"I noticed significant improvement in the appearance of the leg, palpation of the soreness, and improvement in the lameness score with the application of SURPASS."
