Every fecal workup deserves a SNAP® Giardia Test.
Giardia is very prevalent in feline and canine diarrhea
cases, but infection is often missed with fecal floats alone. That’s
why we developed the SNAP Giardia Test to be used
side-by-side with fecal floats.
The reliable, cost-effective SNAP Giardia Test
dramatically improves the results of your workups on symptomatic GI
patients. It catches those missed Giardia-positive
animals up to three times as often as traditional methods.1
The new CAPC recommendations urge testing using a combination of:
- Fecal flotation with centrifugation
CAPC recommends that feces be routinely screened by a centrifugal flotation method because it is consistently more sensitive than simple flotation.
- Direct smear
Direct smears can be very useful for demonstrating motile organisms. Please note: smears have limited sensitivity because of the small amount of feces examined.
- For symptomatic patients, add a sensitive, specific Giardia ELISA
Giardiasis is commonly misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed due to intermittent shedding and difficulty identifying cysts and trophozoites.
In symptomatic patients, use all three methods to attain the best diagnostic accuracy.
This innovative in-house test
helps you diagnose with confidence during the patient visit.
