  • Within 20 minutes of submitting the ECG, you’ll know about any abnormalities that could cause complications under anesthesia.
  • Our specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, and emergency and critical care will indicate if the ECG screen results may suggest altering your course of managing the case.

Recent retrospective analysis of canine and feline Preanesthetic Screen ECGs indicated that 1 in 12 dogs (8.3%) and 1 in 8 cats (12.0%) had abnormalities.* Abnormalities included atrial and ventricular premature contractions, atrioventricular block and atrioventricular fibrillation.

"The preanesthetic ECG is an inexpensive, convenient test that can be the first indication of occult feline and canine cardiomyopathy. It may identify normal (e.g. sinus arrhythmia) and pathological arrhythmias (e.g. ventricular premature contractions) that will determine if the patient should be anesthetized, if the anesthesia protocol should be altered, or if the patient requires therapy prior to anesthesia."
