Direct Capture Technology
Direct capture technology, the technology used in the IDEXX-DR™ 1417 System and the IDEXX EquiView® Digital Radiography System, uses an amorphous selenium plate that absorbs the x-ray directly to generate an electronic signal. There are no intensifying screens or additional steps required to obtain a sharp, clear image. Amorphous selenium flat panel detectors are the preferred method of radiology for human mammography as it provides the maximum detail possible, critical in detecting even the smallest of abnormalities. The IDEXX-DR Systems are the only veterinary DR systems available on the market using selenium technology.

Indirect capture technology uses an indirect method of imaging, similar to screen-film, where a scintillator absorbs the x-rays and generates a light scintillation. The light scintillation is then detected by an array of photodetectors. Indirect conversion detector systems suffer from resolution degradation caused by light spread in the scintillator. |
