IDEXX Laboratories Announces First Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyzer Placements

Westbrook, Maine, April 2, 2008—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDXX) announces that in March it delivered and installed the first Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyzers. This revolutionary new addition to the IDEXX VetLab® integrated suite significantly expands the range and capability of our customers’ in-house diagnostic laboratories, delivering immediate results at the point of care.

Automated onboard whole blood separation and pipetting also allow technicians to load samples simply and quickly, freeing them to move ahead with more significant tasks.”

With the addition of electrolytes to the Catalyst Dx Analyzer test menu, clinics can now run a whole blood sample with a complete panel, such as a Chem 22, or with a simple single chemistry, with results in just eight minutes. For times when a practice is most busy, the instrument has the throughput to run and report resultss on as many as 14 preanesthetic whole blood samples per hour. The ease of use, throughput, test menu and accuracy of the Catalyst Dx Analyzer lifts the practices’ in-house laboratory to a new level of diagnostic versatility and staff efficiency.

Catalyst Dx provides a comprehensive menu, including 27 different individual tests for blood and urine and seven preloaded test CLIPs, or panels, of slides for unprecedented convenience and flexibility in testing. CLIPs include a Chem 17, Chem 15, Chem 10 and Lyte 4, the latter of which can be run individually or on the same run as any of the other CLIPs. CLIPs simplify protocols for preanesthetic testing and wellness as well as sick patient visits, and can be combined with single slides for precise testing panels that help provide individualized patient care for monitoring the health of specific organs and rechecking values over time.

The Catalyst Dx Analyzer joins the VetTest® Chemistry Analyzer in the IDEXX VetLab® Suite as a more full-featured chemistry alternative. “IDEXX intends to continue to sell and support the VetTest analyzer for customers who desire the benefits of IDEXX integrated technology, IDEXX dry-slide chemistry and IDEXX customer support, and yet also desire a lower cost instrument investment,” said Michael Williams, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Instrument Business.
