IDEXX Introduces the Catalyst Dx Chemistry Analyzer [Trade]
This significant upgrade to the IDEXX VetLab® Suite offers unprecedented efficiencies

Catalyst Dx Chemistry Analyzer

Westbrook, Maine, January 18, 2008—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), introduces the IDEXX Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyzer, bringing revolutionary efficiency, flexibility, speed, throughput and test menu breadth to the veterinary point-of-care market. This next-generation addition to the IDEXX VetLab® Suite puts complete chemistry results in veterinarians’ hands quickly and with less technician time than it takes to prepare a sample for an outside laboratory. The new analyzer will be introduced at the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) in January of this year. IDEXX will begin taking orders in February and first shipments are expected to begin in March.

The Catalyst Dx Analyzer continues the IDEXX tradition of offering IDEXX VetLab Suite upgrades that help veterinarians advance their practice of medicine with expanded, cutting-edge, in-house diagnostic laboratory capability. With the Catalyst Dx’s ability to run up to a Chem 22 profile in just eight minutes, veterinarians will be able to offer their clients real-time answers at the point of care. Catalyst Whole Blood SeparatorIn addition, Catalyst Dx runs multiple patient samples simultaneously and provides preanesthetic panel results at a rate of 14 patients per hour. Automated features such as onboard whole blood separation and pipetting allow technicians to load samples simply and quickly, freeing them to move ahead with other pressing tasks while results are automatically generated.

Catalyst CLIP

With a comprehensive test menu that includes 27 different tests for blood and urine and seven preloaded CLIPs of slides, Catalyst Dx offers unprecedented convenience and complete flexibility in testing. The preloaded CLIPs are simple to use and are designed to meet the needs of preanesthetic protocols, wellness and sick patient visits, and feline, canine and equine species. Single slides can be run individually, in combination or added to CLIPs, enabling veterinarians to create the precise test panel desired for monitoring the health of specific organs, rechecking values over time and providing individualized patient care.

The Catalyst Dx Analyzer employs the same trusted IDEXX dry-slide technology used with IDEXX’s market-leading VetTest® Chemistry Analyzer, used by more veterinarians worldwide. Utilizing layers to filter out interfering substances typical in veterinary samples, dry-slide technology offers accurate results on even compromised samples.

“The Catalyst Dx will reinvent diagnostic testing in veterinary medicine. Our philosophy is to give veterinarians everything they need within minutes and with the least technician time,” says Jonathan W. Ayers, CEO of IDEXX Laboratories. “We offer solutions that provide veterinarians with complete lab results at the point of care without waiting and without sacrificing staff productivity.”

The IDEXX VetLab Suite offers a comprehensive in-house laboratory capability, covering chemistry, electrolytes, hematology, endocrinology, urinalysis, coagulation, infectious diseases and blood gases. All results are collected in a central database and printed on an integrated report for easy interpretation. While IDEXX will continue to offer, support and invest in the VetTest® analyzer, the world's leading chemistry analyzer, for the future, Catalyst Dx now provides a new higher-end chemistry analyzer alternative.
