IDEXX Laboratories launches IDEXX-PACS 3.0 [Trade]
IDEXX-PACS imaging software provides robust digital imaging capabilities for more informed diagnoses

Westbrook, Maine, January 10, 2008—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), announces the release of IDEXX-PACS™ 3.0¹, an advancement in IDEXX’s digital imaging software. Developed in conjunction with independent, board-certified veterinary radiologists exclusively for veterinary medicine, IDEXX-PACS is DICOM²-conformant and meets the new American College of Veterinary Radiology guidelines for imaging. IDEXX-PACS 3.0 will help practices significantly streamline the way they capture and share digital images.

“IDEXX-PACS 3.0 provides features that will both streamline workflow and increase staff productivity,” explained Jim Polewaczyk, Corporate Vice President, IDEXX Digital Imaging. “With this advanced software, practitioners will be able to create presets to quickly adjust an image according to their individual viewing preferences, as well as auto-route images to a pre-selected destination via DICOM. These capabilities will increase the efficiency with which veterinarians review images as well as improve the way they manage and send radiographs.”

The IDEXX-PACS 3.0 release is designed to work with the IDEXX-DR™ 1417 and IDEXX-CR™ 1417 digital imaging systems. Some of the new features incorporated into IDEXX-PACS 3.0 are:

  • DICOM Query and Retrieval, which allows staff to query external DICOM devices as well as to retrieve images from other locations (such as consultants or other veterinary clinics) for existing patients, grouped by studies and series.
  •
  • DICOM Compression, which transfers DICOM images instantly. Users can choose from three different DICOM file formats, including raw (uncompressed), JPEG lossy and JPEG lossless for the quick and efficient transfer of files.
