IDEXX Laboratories Launches Cornerstone® 7.1 Practice Management System [Trade]
Latest software technology includes IDEXX SmartLink™ capabilities, an Electronic Whiteboard with automatic invoicing, enhanced reporting and advanced inventory system
Westbrook, Maine, July 9, 2007—IDEXX Computer Systems, a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), today announced the release of IDEXX Cornerstone® 7.1, the latest information management system technology for veterinary practices. Powered by IDEXX SmartLink™ technology, Cornerstone 7.1 provides practices advanced capabilities to integrate electronic medical records and benefit from greater practice efficiencies. SmartLink technology offers simple and seamless electronic connections between Cornerstone and other IDEXX products and services, including IDEXX Reference Laboratories and the IDEXX VetLab® Suite of in-house analyzers.
IDEXX Cornerstone 7.1 connects with the IDEXX VetLab® Station to automatically populate diagnostic requisitions with client and patient data, and automatically uploads test results directly into the Cornerstone electronic medical record. This eliminates transcription errors and unassociated test results, and ensures that the test requests are automatically invoiced and the results information is captured in patient records.

to this integration were a daily event.”
The new version of Cornerstone gives practitioners and practice staff an advanced ability to track patient status with a new Electronic Whiteboard. The Electronic Whiteboard provides a convenient way for staff to order, track and record patient treatments. The color-coded grid allows staff members to observe the status of patients’ treatments while they are at the practice, and can be accessed by any station connected to the Cornerstone system. Patient treatments entered in the Electronic Whiteboard are automatically invoiced to help reduce missed charges due to manual processing. Detailed treatment information is also saved in the patient’s medical record to create an accurate record of care.
Cornerstone 7.1 also features new inventory management capabilities including a new user-friendly interface and advanced bar-coding functionality. Employees can simply scan bar codes to enter items into inventory or remove them when sold. Automated inventory capabilities provide greater accuracy and allow for stock management among multiple clinic locations.
New functionality for documenting physical exams in Cornerstone 7.1 provides an efficient way to record observations and comments while examining a patient and automatically stores exam information in the patient’s history. Upon completing an exam a Pet Health Report Card can be printed and sent home to help clients understand the value of the visit. The new release also includes a custom client and patient report builder that allows users to narrow the scope of their reports based on selected criteria, such as client sales, postal codes and species.
