IDEXX Laboratories Sponsors 2007 Hambletonian CE Seminar
Featuring a new wet labs presentation on diagnosing and treating lameness [Trade]
Westbrook, Maine, July 9, 2007—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), is proud to announce its sponsorship of the 8th Annual Continuing Education (CE) Seminar for Equine Veterinarians during the 82nd Hambletonian Festival of Racing to be held on August 2 and 3, 2007. A new wet labs program has been added this year to give practitioners an intensive, hands-on opportunity to learn the latest medical techniques for treating and diagnosing lameness, including the use of digital radiography image acquisition and review for case resolution.
IDEXX was named an Educational Partner of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) in 2006. This relationship has created additional educational choices for AAEP member veterinarians, veterinary students and horse owners through venues such as the Hambletonian Festival. “IDEXX continues to dedicate resources to CE seminars for equine veterinarians because we support the advancement of knowledge in any way we can,” said Scott Moffitt, Director of Equine Sales and Marketing. “This year’s wet labs program offers unique educational opportunities, with practical applications that can be adopted into the practice immediately following this event.”
The wet labs program schedule is as follows: On Thursday, August 2, 2007, the IDEXX-sponsored presentation, Radiographic Diagnostics During the Lameness Examination Using Digital Radiography, will be presented by G. Kent Carter, DVM, MS, DACVIM, Professor and Chief of Medicine, Large Animal Clinical Sciences, CVM, Texas A&M University. The wet labs program will use live IDEXX EquiView® Digital Radiography System images of horses on site to prompt discussions about image review preferences in looking for specific conditions.
In addition, IDEXX is sponsoring an all-day seminar on Friday, August 3, featuring a presentation by Michael W. Ross, DVM, DACVS, Unraveling the Mystery of Diagnostic Analgesia. Dr. Ross is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and has a special focus on arthroscopic surgical techniques and lameness in standardbred and thoroughbred racehorses.
Hambletonian attendees will have a chance to talk with IDEXX representatives about the many equine products and services offered by IDEXX, including the IDEXX EquiView® Digital Radiography System (live demonstrations can be provided throughout the event), SURPASS® (1% diclofenac sodium) Topical Anti-Inflammatory Cream, Navigator® (32% nitazoxanide) Paste, the Equine Health Profile for the IDEXX VetTest® Chemistry Analyzer and S. equi ELISA and S. equi PCR tests from IDEXX/EBI, the company’s equine-focused reference laboratory.
