IDEXX Laboratories Launches the Diagnostic Health Profile for the VetTest® Chemistry Analyzer [Trade]

Westbrook, Maine, April 13, 2007—IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), announces the launch of the Diagnostic Health Profile (DHP), a panel that provides 13 results and offers veterinarians a new choice in creating a minimum diagnostic database. The DHP runs on the IDEXX VetTest® Chemistry Analyzer in just minutes and offers more focused liver-testing capabilities and the ability to monitor pancreatic health.

DHP packagingThe new DHP consists of tests for ALB, ALKP, ALT, AMYL, BUN, CA, CREA, GLU, GGT, LIPA, TBIL and TP, and provides a calculation for globulin. With both amylase and lipase, the profile can help practitioners detect pancreatitis and quickly begin treatment. GGT is included to better differentiate certain types of liver disease in cats, and to help rule out drug-related diagnoses in dogs, as it is less influenced by enzyme-inducing drugs.

“Our customers told us they would benefit from prepackaged panels that provide a more convenient way to monitor pancreatic health and differentiate cholestatic liver disease.” said Jennifer Mazjanis, LVT, Chemistry Marketing Manager. “For example, we discovered that practices often add lipase to the GHP in order to screen for pancreatitis, so lipase is a standard part of the new VetTest DHP. This new profile will help VetTest Analyzer users quickly assess the situation and begin targeting and treating the root cause of their patients’ distress immediately.”

The DHP offers a choice in testing for both healthy patients and those showing clinical signs. With the chemistries run on the VetTest Analyzer, doctors can rely on proven dry-slide technology—designed to minimize the effects of interferants and provide uncompromising accuracy—for trusted results. The VetTest Analyzer is an integral part of the IDEXX VetLab® Suite, trusted by more veterinarians worldwide as their in-house laboratory, delivering comprehensive and immediate information on blood chemistries, electrolytes, hematology, endocrinology, urinalysis and blood gases.
