IDEXX Laboratories to Launch IDEXX-PACS™ 2.8 [Trade]
Benefits for IDEXX digital radiography system customers include adding surgical options to digital images and viewing images on multiple monitors

Westbrook, Maine, January 18, 2007—IDEXX Digital Imaging, a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), announced that it will release an innovative version 2.8 of IDEXX-PACS™ (picture archiving and communication system), which is the DICOM1-conformant, open-communication software system built into all IDEXX Digital Radiography Systems, including IDEXX-DR™ 1417 and IDEXX-CR™ 1417 systems. The new release is currently undergoing beta testing and will be available in spring 2007.

Version 2.8 enables practices to create a customized patient CD with an image viewer. An integrated surgical template application allows the user to incorporate surgical options into an image to enhance pre-surgical evaluations. Additionally, the new version supports multiple monitor configurations, allowing images to be viewed on several screens and in various modalities. It offers automatic modality awareness for computed axial tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR), and ultrasound. Upgraded DICOM-query and -retrieve features have been added to provide more robust search capabilities.

"The updates in IDEXX-PACS 2.8 illustrate IDEXX's commitment to enhancing our digital system's capabilities to meet the evolving imaging needs of veterinary practitioners," said Paul Dobbins, General Manager, IDEXX Digital Imaging.

IDEXX-PACS software links seamlessly with IDEXX Cornerstone® Practice Management Software, allowing practices to:
  • create and capture all vital patient history, treatment and digital images electronically.
  • manage and review important medical records, including images, in one integrated format on office computers.
  • store all patient history from text to images on removable media or a dedicated server, eliminating lost files and the need for separate x-ray film storage rooms.
  • send digital images and patient records electronically to off-site locations for rapid diagnosis and comprehensive specialty consultation.

The IDEXX-PACS open-communication system also links with other practice-management software systems.
