IDEXX Laboratories Introduces LabREXX® Electronic Test Request Forms [Trade]
A new way to create bar-coded test order forms for IDEXX Cornerstone® Practice Management System

Westbrook, Maine, January 12, 2007IDEXX Computer Systems, a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDXX), introduces LabREXX®—software that provides veterinary practices with a fast and accurate way to request tests from IDEXX Reference Laboratories. LabREXX functionality uses SmartLink™ Technology to integrate critical patient and practice information to create a “complete circuit” of data flow that simplifies tasks, saves steps and streamlines the entire point-of-care process.

LabREXX FormsA new feature of the IDEXX Cornerstone® Practice Management System, LabREXX automatically populates the test order forms with client and patient information drawn directly from the Cornerstone patient record, eliminating the need for handwritten test requisition forms. LabREXX forms also help avoid mistakes by ensuring that the test ordered is appropriate for the patient’s species. All of this information is encoded in a two-dimensional bar code, which is scanned at the lab for foolproof capture of the order.

LabREXX also works with the Cornerstone Reference Lab module to make test results more accessible. Once the test result is received from the reference laboratory, the IDEXX Cornerstone Reference Lab module automatically downloads results directly into the patient medical record. Best of all, LabREXX virtually eliminates missed charges by auto-transferring ordered tests to client invoices.

“By implementing LabREXX, our staff no longer fills out manual request forms or re-keys patient data. With Cornerstone’s automated invoicing feature, missed and lost charges are a thing of the past. The impact to my practice is higher efficiency, quicker access to patient data, and a 17% or $2,125 per month increase in lab revenue to the practice,” said Trevor Lyon, RVT, Hospital Manager for Bells Ferry Veterinary Hospital, Acworth, Georgia.
